Getting laid off or being without a job isn’t a new thing around here. Maybe it’s been a couple of months since you’ve stopped working and you still can’t find anything. You’ve been bumming it and it’s driving you c-r-a-z-y. Well, you’re not alone. Here are a few tips and resources to get you off the ground.

1) Maybe there’s a reason you’re not working. Take advantage of this time by asking yourself “what could I be doing now that I could never do when I start working full time again?” What’s tugging at your heart? Maybe it’s picking up a new skill you’re passionate about or really digging deep about what you really want in life and in your career, which brings us to the next tip.

2) Read the new edition of What Color Is Your Parachute?—the Job Hunter’s Bible for career changers and job seekers. Fortune Magazine calls it “the gold standard of Career Guides.”

3) If you already know what you want, keep looking, networking and applying. In the meantime, find temporary work with the following temp agencies:

Kossoris Search – Job placement and recruiting of attorneys, paralegals and legal secretaries.

Office Team – Specializes in administrative staffing (e.g., office manager, assistants, clerks, project manager, coordinator).

24 Seven – Leading recruitment agency for the biggest names in fashion, retail, beauty, marketing, advertising, and entertainment.

Creative Circle – Advertising and creative staffing (e.g., copywriter, graphic designer, desktop publisher, proofreader).

Extras Management
– Arts and entertainment staffing (e.g., performing arts).
